Immigration Basics and Family Rules
This seminar is aimed at those who wish to develop a basic understanding of the immigration and asylum law framework, and the regularly inter-connected family issues, as set out in the Immigration Rules, in the European Court on Human Rights, family legislation and relevant case law.
It is intended that any attendee will gain an insight into the complex subject areas from a practical viewpoint and be able to deploy or formulate necessary intervention whenever presented with these problems.
Among topics covered will be the domestic violence concession, getting around the ‘no recourse to public funds’ rules, maintenance and accommodation overrides, relevance of family law orders / proceedings (including maintenance action against the British spouse) and rights of bereaved spouses without residence rights.
